10 June 2019, Moscow. During the sixth session of the joint Saudi-Russian committee on economic and scientific cooperation, Mr. Aleksandr Novak, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, confirmed the Russian party's intention to develop ties with Saudi Arabia in the area of peaceful use of atomic technology and announced that a branch of Rusatom Overseas JSC would open in Riyadh.

Rusatom Overseas, JSC is an affiliate of the Rosatom State Corporation that promotes the integrated offer for the construction of small and large-scale NPPs, as well as Centers for Nuclear Science and Technology (CNST), on the international market.

"The opening of a branch of the Russian company in Riyadh marks an important step in the partnership between Saudi Arabia and Russia in the atomic energy field. Rosatom's presence in the Kingdom will provide for a more efficient cooperation with the Saudi authorities and companies within the framework of the tender for the first nuclear power plant in Saudi Arabia", Mr. Novak said.

"There is a large agenda between the Saudi party and us, which concerns the tender for the construction of a large nuclear power plant, as well as a few other cooperation opportunities, such as small and medium reactors, the fuel cycle, human resources development for Saudi Arabia's national nuclear program, and the development of the country's nuclear infrastructure. We give special attention to the interface with Saudi industrial and academic entities, because the Russian party believes they have a great potential as the participants of the Saudi nuclear energy program", added Mr. Evgeny Pakermanov, the President of Rusatom Overseas, JSC.
