ROSATOM presented its cutting-edge nuclear Technologies at the workshop in Argentina

On November 9-10, 2016 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, ROSATOM held a workshop dedicated to cutting edge Russian nuclear technologies and latest decisions in nuclear sphere. The workshop was organized by Rosatom International Network with support of The Ministry of Energy and Mining of Argentina.

The presentations at the workshop were made by representatives of Rosatom and the leading Rosatom companies, which are actively operating in the foreign market: Rosatom Overseas, TVEL, United Innovation Corporation, Rosatom International Network. From Argentinean side the workshop was attended by Julio Gadano, Subsecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Argentina, top management and representatives of the leading enterprises and institutions of Argentina's nuclear industry, including the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Ministry of science, technology and innovation, the Ministry of foreign affairs and culture of Argentina, the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), INVAP, Nucleoelectrica Argentina (NA-SA), Association of metallurgic production of Argentina (ADIMRA), Latin American Association of radiation technologies (ALATI), Center of development and assistance of technology (CEDYAT), Helport, Nuclearis, FAE S.E. Conuar, TECHINT, IONICS, the Engineering Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires and members of Argentinean Young Nuclear Generation, Argentinean Society of radiology etc. The seminar was attended by more than 100 people.

From Russian side the workshop was opened by Russia's Trade Representative in the Republic of Argentina Sergey Derkach and Evgeny Pakermanov, President of Rosatom Overseas. In particular Mr. Pakermanov highlighted big potential of cooperation level between two countries. “Actually there are not so many joint projects nowadays so the goal of current workshop is to get to know each others’ possibilities better and to find touch points that will open new opportunities of mutually beneficial interaction in nuclear sphere that both countries deserve not only in Argentina, but in the region and globally”, he said. Sergey Derkach added that  Argentina and Russia has a long story of cooperation and electric energy sector is one of its basis. Such workshop are very useful to contact to each other that could lead to political decisions in future. “Hope that nuclear sphere will enrich success story of interaction between two countries soon”, he concluded.

Mr. Gadano also opened the event with greeting words. He reminded about great achievements that both countries have in the field of peaceful application of nuclear energy. In particular, he noticed that the resemblance between the two countries in different areas must be seen as a great advantage, mostly for its potential complementary capacity. “We must face the world and learn more from abroad. And with this event we can learn more from Rosatom. As one of the leader in world nuclear industry it has lots of directions that we can consider”, he said.

The seminar was dedicated to Russian experience in application and development of nuclear technologies and solutions on a wide range of areas. Themes were covered dedicated to overview of ROSATOM regional and global presence, its competitive advantages on international market, integrated offer of Rosatom in nuclear field for construction NPP and other nuclear facilities such as Nuclear Research and Technology Center, Among themes most effective financial decisions, applied by ROSATOM in the construction NPP abroad were presented.   

Within the workshop participants were able to get acquainted with the newest decisions applied by Rosatom in the sphere of engineering and NPP construction, back-end management, including RW and SNF areas, decommissioning services, irradiation technologies and nuclear medicine, personnel training, activities of Rosatom raising public acceptability of projects in nuclear sphere and many more. The point of high interest was presentation about VVER-1200, first in the world generation III+ project succesfully connected to the grid in Russia, on Unit 6 of Novovoronezh NPP.

Within the program of the seminar, Argentinean experts presented their report. Thus, Mr.Gadano gave a perspective of national nuclear energy development programme as well as CNEA devoted speech about Argentinian Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Argentinian Solutions in Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Tecnology.
