5 June, Moscow – The Rosatom State Corporation representatives participated in the international conference Bulgarian Nuclear Energy – National, Regional and World Energy Security. The conference took place on 5 June in Varna within the framework of the Bulgarian Atomic Forum (BULATOM).
At the plenary session, Mr. Evgeny Pаkermanov, the President at Rosatom Overseas, talked about the Rosatom State Corporation's experience of building nuclear power plants abroad. Mr. Pаkermanov underlined the importance of the long-standing cooperation between Bulgaria and Russia in the field of atomic energy. “Today, preventing the climate change and reducing the carbon footprint is the humanity's most important problem. We are convinced that it will be impossible to solve without nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is a key factor in the global energy balance, as well as a safe and feasible solution for many countries,” Mr. Pаkermanov argued.
The President at Rusatom Overseas JSC also said, “The cooperation between Bulgaria and Russia is mutually beneficial and has been lasting for more than 50 years. We have laid a solid foundation for joint projects, such as the construction of the Belene NPP.”
Rosatom has experience in both energy-related and non-energy related fields and offers the best solutions to its foreign partners, always tailored to the customer's needs and each country's national specifics. Retrofitted units at the Kozloduy NPP, Bulgaria, have been deployed in cooperation with Rosatom; today, they are accountable for approximately 35% of the nationally consumed energy.
The Bulgarian Nuclear Energy – National, Regional, and World Energy Security conference is a key industry-specific event in Bulgaria hosted by the Bulgarian Atomic Forum (Bulatom). The event traditionally attracts politicians, ambassadors, energy experts, foreign businessmen, and mass media reporters.
