Russia and India are preparing to sign the master agreement and the credit protocol for the third stage of the Kudankulam NPP, Nikolai Spassky, Deputy CEO of Rosatom, told the press.
According to him, the implementation of the third stage of Kudankulam is considerably advanced. 'There are two simultaneous workflows: the master framework agreement for units 5 and 6, and the intergovernmental credit protocol', Mr Spassky said.
'Given the importance of nuclear energy for the relations between our countries, this is definitely a flagship strategic project', the top manager added.
He noted that the third and the fourth units have already been fully contracted and the first concrete pouring ceremony has already taken place; 'As of now, we are approaching the actual first concrete pouring which will be in the beginning of the next year. Simultaneously, we are completing the prep for the third stage, that is, units 5 and 6', he observed.
'I expect that the signing will take place in the nearest future. Nearest means actually nearest', Mr Spassky stressed.
